Blower

You know post #2 on the same day is never a good sign.

Now I'm pissed.

I'm sitting here enjoying a late afternoon snack - the notorious Famous Amos cookies - at my desk when my teammate, a woman, walks by. I don't notice her as she comes back and pokes her head around my cubicle. Granted, that's because I was digging through the crumbs to find the chocolate chips, but that's beside the point.

Here's how our conversation goes:

{Her} You know what's going to happen, right?
{Me} [Thinking she's alluding to work drama] No, what?
{Her} If you keep eating like that?
{Me} [Flabbergasted but trying to play it cool] Ha... What do you mean?
{Her} Well, I've seen you out here a few times, like one time you were eating a big box of those cheese crackers [Cheese-Its, HELLO]. Are you one of those people with one of those crazy metabolisms? Because one day, it's going to catch up to you.
{Me} Haven't you heard of a serving size before?

Damn. I already have insecurities about my weight because I've gained like 15 pounds in the past few months. I probably shouldn't be eating cookies, but I've never been that type to really restrict myself. Since J and I have finally finished with the bulk of the house work, we've been trying to eat a bit healthier, and I've already noticed the difference.

But what I really don't need is the THIRD coworker of mine approaching me about my weight and my eating habits. So not cool.

I think I might have to make a new category on the blog for asshole coworkers.

It is crazy that your co-workers think it is okay to make assumptions about your body or weight. I have never heard of people being so forward about that stuff! I don't care if you were 100lbs or 400lbs, definitely not okay to comment on those things.

Strange people...I tell ya.

Ok seriously I get so angry any time you talk about your co-workers doing this! It's insane. Ummm, manners anyone?? I don't know why they would think that comments like that are ok...like it's healthy advice that they're gifting you. Um, no thanks buddy! Ugh! I don't know how you do it. I would probably just say something right to them about it. How rude!

@April - I agree, DEFINITELY not okay regardless of size. And I really don't understand where all of the comments are coming from. You'd think I'm inviting them based on the frequency at which they come.

@Jess - The manners are definitely missing here. It makes me feel REALLY uncomfortable. Like, these comments should have nothing to do with my job, but they absolutely affect my job satisfaction, which you know is already quite low. I'm conflicted.
