In my crazed rush to get out of the house this morning - to make it to the office in time to ride with my boss to an off-site meeting that was apparently canceled(!) - I stubbed my second-to-last toe on the stainless steel benchy stooly thing that's been living in our kitchen* for the past few weeks.
I did my usual "ow" dance around the kitchen, called for the very much asleep Jeremy, and then took the time to look down. That little sucker was gushing blood! Okay, not gushing, but there was a large presence of blood for such a small toe.
I woke Jeremy up, turned on the light, and thrust my baby toe into his face. It took a while for his eyes to adjust, and then he told me he thought I cut it. That's when I started to get grossed out. It may be obvious to some that blood = cut, but not to me. I was just thinking I banged it up, that it was bruised, and that it was bleeding a little.
So I hastily rinsed it in the tub, dried it, put some Neosporin on it, and wrestled with a bandaid for a bit. Have you ever tried to put a bandaid on a baby middle toe? Not the easiest feet.**
I'd like to say it was the sole*** reason why I was late, but it wasn't. I called my mom a bit after, and she said exactly what I thought she would: "you need to slow down!", which is something she says a lot. And she's right. I just didn't want to hear it.
I'd rather assume it's just because I'm clumsy, not that I'm a sloth who has to sleep until the last half minute before work.
*It works great as a cutting board surface. Not.
**So not intended, until it was.
***Alright, now I need to stop.

sucks when she's right.
hope your toe gets better!
I hate stubbing my toes! I do it all the time!! Hope you can slow down soon...seems to me that your feet have been trying to tell you something lately!
@Jess, you're probably right!
My little toesie still needs Neosporin, but I think it's on the road to recovery.
